about me

© Greg Kendall-Ball

Hey! I'm Amy Kontras, formerly Amy Stroth (recently married, woo)!

I'm a freelance photographer and journalist currently located in the heart and soul of the midwest - Kansas City, Mo. I love creating and curating meaningful, storytelling work about the people right here in my community, and those near and far I have yet to meet.

I'm a graduate of the University of Missouri-Columbia, where I attained a Bachelor of Journalism with an emphasis in Photojournalism. While working toward my journalism degree, I also earned a minor in Business and a Multicultural Studies certificate (gotta be well-rounded in this job market, right?).

During my time at Mizzou, I had the pleasure of working for publications such as Dallas Advocate Magazine, Inside Columbia Magazine, The Columbia Missourian, and Sports Illustrated. Since graduation, I've been published in outlets such as the Kansas City Star, Wall Street Journal and The New York Times.

In case you couldn't tell by the photograph of me above, I stinkin' love what I do. I would love to share some of that moxie with you or your publication, so please feel free to contact me with questions or comments about my work, or if you would like to hire me for an assignment. I'm available for both shooting and editing jobs wherever you may need me.

Thanks for stopping by, hope y'all enjoy!
