about me

Hey! I'm Amy Kontras.

I'm a freelance photographer and journalist currently located in the heart and soul of the midwest - Kansas City, Mo. While my passion lies in sports photography, I love creating and curating meaningful, storytelling work about the people in my community, and those near and far I have yet to meet.

I'm a graduate of the University of Missouri-Columbia, where I attained a Bachelor of Journalism with an emphasis in Photojournalism. While working toward my journalism degree, I also earned a minor in Business and a Multicultural Studies certificate (gotta be well-rounded in this job market, right?).

Previous employers include: Dallas Advocate Magazine, The Columbia Missourian, Sports Illustrated, and William Jewell College.

Recent freelance clients include: USA Today Sports Images, ESPN The Magazine, The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, Major Area Soccer League, and The Guardian.

In case you couldn't tell by the photograph of me above, I stinkin' love what I do. I would love to share some of that moxie with you or your publication, so please feel free to contact me with questions or comments about my work, or if you would like to hire me for an assignment. I'm available for both shooting and editing jobs wherever you may need me.
