Kansas Football v Nicholls State for USATSI

COLLEGE FOOTBALL IS BACK!

Last night I photographed the Kansas Jayhawks' home opener against the Nicholls State Colonels. It was an exciting game that went into overtime, with the visitors eventually emerging as the victors.

Here are a few of my favorite images from the game, shot for USA Today Sports Images:

Tournament of Nations for USATSI

I've been missing women's soccer since FC Kansas City left for Salt Lake City at the end of last year, so last night's Tournament of Nations coverage was a whole lotta fun for me. The weather and the light were great and so was the play. Australia defeated Brazil 3-1 and the US defeated Japan 4-2. Here are a few of my favorite images from the matches:

Bernie Sanders and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez for The Guardian

I've become quite familiar with the drive to Wichita, KS the last few years. I used to be bored of it – all of the rolling hills used to seem repetitive and dull – but now, I love the drive. Its beauty has grown on me and the expansiveness gives me the opportunity to focus on my upcoming assignment while en route, and to decompress and reflect on my way home.

I needed a lot of time to process what I had taken in on my latest trip to "The Air Capital of the World," where I spent the late morning and early afternoon following rising political star Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Senator Bernie Sanders as they campaigned for local congressional hopeful, democrat James Thompson. The energy was palpable in the arena, as over 3,000 people gathered on a weekday afternoon to hear the trio speak about the future of the Democratic party and the country. I was privy to some quiet moments that were very special, and was hopefully able to convey that in the photos I made, a few of which I'll post here:

Josh Hawley for NYT

Sunday's National edition of The New York Times included a photo I made a few weeks back of U.S. Senate hopeful, Josh Hawley, at a Cattlemen's Association steak fry at the Missouri State Fairgrounds. You can read the article about Hawley's race HERE and I've included the tearsheet below, as well as a few of my favorite images from the trip that didn't make print.

Sporting KC V Toronto FC for USATSI

While I'm still mourning the loss of the women's professional soccer team here in Kansas City and lamenting the lack of presence from the U.S. at the World Cup currently, at least there is men's professional soccer to be enjoyed in Kansas City. I had the chance to photograph an action-packed match between Sporting Kansas City and Toronto FC this weekend. Here are a few of my favorite images.
