Last night Sporting Kansas City and Real Salt Lake played a thriller in KCK, with SKC ultimately advancing after a lights-out performance and 4-2 win.

2017 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup Semifinals

Last night I took a side-step from my usual soccer coverage and photographed the U.S. Open Cup semifinal match between Sporting Kansas City and the San Jose Earthquakes at Children's Mercy Park in Kansas City, Kansas. My first men's professional soccer match was quite the doozy: 90 minutes of regular play (+2 in stoppage), plus 30 minutes of overtime and 6 rounds of penalty kicks before SKC was able to clench the win. They'll host the final match Sept. 20th.
