This weekend FC Kansas City hosted the Washington Spirit and young soccer phenom Mallory Pugh made her very first NWSL start. It was very cool to witness some soccer history at Swope Soccer Village. A summer storm before the game led to some beautiful and stange weather at the end of the match and despite Pugh's great debut, the Blues were able to defeat the Spirit 3-2.
Chosin Few Monument Dedication
Earlier this month I had the amazing opportunity to spend a whirlwind 26 hours in Triangle, Virginia to photograph the unveiling and dedication of a new Chosin Few monument at the National Museum of the Marine Corps. My grandmother, Frances Yanigan Woodward, secretaried the North Texas Chapter of the Chosin Few and helped lead the fundraising and design efforts for the monument. It was breathtaking and inspiring. I could not have been more proud or had more fun -- I'm so lucky to be able to spend moments like these with the beautiful matriarch of my family. Bitty, I love you and congratulations!!
FCKC vs Orlando Pride
This weekend FC Kansas City hosted the Orlando Pride and international soccer superstar Marta (you know you're good when you get to go by just one name). The match ended in a 1-1 draw.
FCKC vs Boston Breakers
This week the National Women's Soccer League season kicked off and FC Kansas City hosted the Boston Breakers at Swope Soccer Village. They started the season off strong, scoring two goals to defeat the Breakers 2-0.
FCKC in the Studio
This season I have the honor of being the team photographer for the National Women's Soccer League team, FC Kansas City. These women are all incredibly talented and down-to-earth. I'm can't wait for the actual season to get started, but in the meantime, here are a few fun shots from a marketing shoot we did at the headquarters last week. GO BLUES!
